A Little Thanksgiving Pep Talk
On this Eve of Thanksgiving Eve, we’ll spare you from any marketing talk and share with you one of our favorite lines from the movie Along Came Polly with Ben Stiller, Jennifer Aniston and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
To set it up for you, Reuben Feffer (Ben Stiller) and his dad Irving Feffer (Bob Dishy) are listening to Sandy Lyle (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a has-been, beyond eccentric actor have a temper tantrum because things aren’t going his way. Irving Feffer, who is a man of few words, suddenly speaks up and says:
“It’s not about what happened in the past, or what you think might happen in the future, it’s about the ride. There is no point in going through all this crap, if you’re not going to enjoy the ride. And you know what…when you least expect, something great might come along. Something better than you even planned for.”
So this Thanksgiving, forget the past, don’t worry about the future, and enjoy the ride. After all, it’s all we’ve got and it’s worth appreciating.
